What is the JYSEP?

What is the JYSEP?

What is the JYSEP?

The JYSEP is a global movement inspiring young people, parents, and community members to work together toward a better world.  Mentored by older youth, participants (aged 11-14) are encouraged  to:

  • take ownership for one's own spiritual and intellectual development;
  • develop a strong sense of purpose and the volition needed to make good decisions, and
  • engage in meaningful social action in their communities.

What is the JYSEP?

Using stories through a series of books, a peer group of friends usually meet on a weekly basis to study and explore concepts that:

  • Enhance their capacities for expression using words and language
  • Help them understand their social reality to plan and carry out service projects that contribute to their community
  • Engage them in cultural activities

Junior youth are also encouraged to participate in fun recreational activities and arts!

Who are animators?

What is the JYSEP?

Who are animators?

In each group, there is the need for an older person who, as a true friend to the junior youth, can assist them in developing their noble capacities. Those who perform this function are known as "animators". With the encouragement of the animator, the members of the group remain hopeful and convinced that they can discern between positive and negative influences on their life and protect themselves against the forces that are harmful  in the society around them. They are also empowered to contribute to its betterment.
