Terwillegar Youth is a community-based initiative that aims to empower members of the community towards collective social transformation. We are a not-for-profit learning institute that promotes educational programs for children and junior youth, focused on helping them develop the skills and attributes needed for leading a coherent life. Our programs see young people as capable protagonists of social change, with immense potential to contribute to the construction of a better world.
As such, spearheading these programs are our older youth, who, through their paths of service, are able to realize their potential and take charge of their own intellectual and spiritual growth. This enables them to better understand the purpose of their education, clarify their thoughts about their future, strengthen friendships, and develop qualities needed to contribute to the well-being of those around them. Terwillegar Youth provides an environment where youth, junior youth, children, and their families are able to connect with the wider community, working together to foster a pattern of vibrant community life in the neighbourhood.
Although the Junior Youth Spiritual Program (JYSEP) is inspired by the teachings of the Bahá'í Faith, it is not religious instruction. The program equips young people with the requisite skills, qualities, attitudes and habits that an increasingly diverse and interconnected global community requires. Although the JYSEP was developed at the initiative of the Baha'is, it continues to flourish in collaboration with numerous individuals and organizations around world. Either in neighbourhoods or through schools, the aim is to learn about how to build lasting unity by working with friends and neighbours with diverse beliefs and backgrounds in simple community building efforts.
Join Emily Goshey in her discovery through involvement with the worldwide Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program, and how our expectations can be a major influence on the direction of our lives.
